Odd that several billions of a creature named, surely ironically, Homo sapiens, are unable in adulthood to leave behind the belief (held usually by children under seven) in an imaginary friend or friends. Even odder that, unlike children, most of the afflicted adults would like to kill those with different imaginary friends.

How can the name ‘homo sapien’ be ironic?
Because we don’t seem to be a particularly intelligent species, all things considered, and certainly not a wise one.
