Heart of oak
Great oaks from little acorns grow. And then the tree is attacked by caterpillars, borers, wood rot; loses branches from a lightning strike; falls over in a severe storm; is attacked by fungus and many insects; turns into mulch. The end.
In the grass
When you have had a bad experience with a snake you see snakes everywhere – a coiled hose on a lawn, a bendy brown stick on a path, a shadow undulating on uneven ground, the movement of a bird in the undergrowth.
