Life is like a revolving stage. We start in one scene, other actors around us, and perform the script. Then through a door to the next set, some actors going with you, new ones waiting, and perform a totally different script. On and on you go, until the last set, which has no exit door.
Living with cancer in remission is like living in an active minefield, moving carefully, hardly daring to breathe, keeping to well-worn tracks, but knowing that even those, swept carefully, may still hide an unexploded bomb, while hearing, in the distance, the intermittent explosions from the fields where others live similar lives.
Someone who, with straight face, and small sincere smile, can argue for two contradictory positions, to two different groups, in the space of two hours, while believing in neither position and caring nothing about the subject.
