Colour tv

First tv show I
saw was Black and White Minstrels
on black and white set

[Historical note – The year was 1961. The huge tv set for some reason was delivered in the evening and had to be set up. By the time this complicated procedure was complete it must have been 10pm, and the show that happened to be on (which of course had to be watched, whatever it was) was the Minstrels. Even in those far-off times, these singing and dancing blacked-face white fellas, right there on our tv, were clearly anachronistic, although to my grandmother, who remembered Al Jolson, they probably seemed less so].
