Venom

Used to know a chap who worked on snakes (a technical officer in a zoology department). When he began he used to boast how he wasn\’t concerned about big venomous snakes, had been bitten a few times, no problem, we were all wusses to be scared of browns, tigers, blacks, taipans, adders. But after he was bitten a few more times his body became so sensitive to venom that when he was later bitten by a small poisonous snake (say a banded snake), usually of no danger to any mammal bigger than a mouse, he had a reaction so severe that he might have been bitten by a black snake. And then, the next bite from, say, a whip snake, he had a really major reaction, nearly died and was told that next time he was bitten by anything he would die. He took up flower photography.
